Black Basalt Chippings (10-20mm) are a striking dark grey to near-black angular aggregate that deepens to a dramatic charcoal when wet. A favourite for modern gardens, they add crisp contrast to borders, planters and contemporary paving.
What are Black Basalt Chippings used for?
- Decorative borders, beds and ground cover
- Pathways and driveways
- Pots, planters and water features
- Striking contrast against light paving and planting
- Low-maintenance, weed-suppressing mulch alternative
Bagged at our Courteenhall works
We bag our aggregates at our own works in Courteenhall, Northamptonshire for accurate weights and consistent quality — whether you need a single 20kg bag or a bulk bag.
Flexible supply options
Available in two convenient sizes — Bulk Bag and Small Bag (20kg) — so you can buy the right amount for a single border or a full driveway.
We recommend a weed membrane underneath and a spread depth of around 40–50mm. Nationwide delivery available, or collect from our yard: Hard Landscaping Supplies, Top Yard, East Lodge, Courteenhall, Northampton, NN7 2QF (Mon–Fri 7am–5pm, Sat 7am–12pm).
⚠ Please note — natural stone colours vary between batches and look different wet and dry, so photos are a guide only. Decorative aggregates are non-refundable once purchased; please order the correct quantity.
